Who What When Contribution to your grade
teams--to be assigned in class on-campus survey Sep 22-26 presentations in class 1 grading unit
individual journal; does NOT go on class website September 26, October 31, December 12 3 grading units; 1 for each time turned in
individual personal interview; does NOT go on class website before fall break; i.e., before Oct. 17 1 grading unit
individual or team 5 minute audio or video "infomercial" or "edutainment" or public service announcement" production; goes on class website Dec. 8; presentations in class Dec. 8-12 1 grading unit
individual or team or 2 to 4 students okay--ABSOLUTELY NO MORE THAN 4 STUDENTS MAY BE ON A TEAM! "Your Choice Project"  before last day of class; i.e., before Dec. 12; must be presented in class 2 grading units; one for content, one for presentation
individual class participation, attendance, and discussion web contributions throughout semester 1 grading unit

Extra credit items:

Events may come up during the semester that can be used to increase the grade on one item by one unit (i.e., from D to C, or from B to B+).   See Extra Credit on the navigation bar above. 

Midterm grade:  

The score at midterm will be based on survey, first reading of the journal, personal interview, and class participation, attendance, and discussion web contributions to this point in the semester.

Letter grade definitions:

A Outstanding achievement and an unusual degree of intellectual initiative
B+ High level of intellectual achievement
B Noteworthy level of performance
C+ Performance beyond basic expectations of the course
C Satisfactory work
D Work of inferior quality, but passing
F Failure--no credit
