POWERS 10-WEEK E-BUSINESS EXECUTIVE CERTIFICATE
OMAHA,
Neb. -- Condensed, high powered e-business education with emphasis on solutions and
leadership is now offered in a new 10-week, 30-hour executive certificate program by the
Joe Ricketts Center in Electronic Commerce and Database Marketing in the College of
Business Administration at Creighton University.
The program, which starts in January, targets executives who need cutting-edge, e-business
knowledge to navigate through the rapidly changing world of business. The curriculum
offers concentrated training in convergence of technologies, business-to-business
commerce, marketing, security, data mining, regulatory and privacy issues in the digital
economy, and web applications.
The 10, three-hour seminars will be taught by a team of experts in the e-business field
including Ravi Nath, Ph.D., chairman of the Department of Information Systems and
Technology and founding director of the Joe Ricketts Center for Electronic Commerce and
Database Marketing, and holder of the Jack and Joan McGraw Endowed Chair in Information
Systems in the College of Business Administration at Creighton University.

CREIGHTON TO INAUGURATE THE ANNA TYLER WAITE CENTER FOR LEADERSHIP
OMAHA, Neb. -- The College of Business Administration (CoBA) at Creighton University is
leading by example. CoBA is inaugurating the Anna Tyler Waite Center for Leadership at 4
p.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at 4 p.m. in the Skutt Student Center.
The Anna Tyler Waite Center for Leadership offers a four-year program that will offer
undergraduate students in CoBA the opportunity to study and practice leadership in a
college setting.
The Anna Tyler Waite Scholars will participate in a series of activities that will explore
the philosophies and actions of leaders in varied settings and circumstances. These
activities will develop the skills and values needed to become an effective leader in a
socially responsible environment.
BOYLE AND
RICE ARE HONORED AS ALUMNI AWARD WINNERS
OMAHA, Neb. -- Michael Philip Boyle and Kenneth D. Rice are Creighton alumni who
have transformed their academic education into business and personal success.
For 15 years, Boyle has been on the move at Microsoft. In May 2000, he was named vice
president after directing Microsoft's worldwide tax and internal audit functions for
several years. His service to his profession includes chairing the Tax and Finance
Committee of the American Electronics Association as well as serving on the board of the
National Foreign Trade Council.
His service to his alma mater is just as impressive. This 1979 graduate from the College
of Business Administration at Creighton and 1983 graduate from the Creighton School of Law
is on the Advisory Board of the College of Business Administration as well as an active
member of the Creighton Alumni Club in Seattle.
For all of his involvement and interest in Creighton, Boyle is the 2001 Alumni Merit Award
winner from the College of Business Administration.
Rice, chairman and CEO of Enron Broadband Services, oversees the development of Enron's
emerging communications business, which includes an 18,000-mile nationwide fiber optic
network dedicated to high bandwidth.
This 1984 Master of Business Administration graduate from the College of Business
Administration has given his energy and time to Creighton as well, after presiding as past
president of the Creighton Alumni Club in Houston.
A reception and dinner was held for both honorees, on Monday, Sept. 10, 2001 in the Skutt
Student Center on the Creighton University campus.

Educator of the Year Ravi Nath, Ph.D.,
chairman of the Department of Information Systems and Technology, and director of the Joe Ricketts Center for Electronic Commerce and
Database Marketing in the College of Business Administration at Creighton University
was named Educator of the Year: Postsecondary by the Applied Information Management (AIM)
Institute. The honor was announced at AIM's 8th Annual Nebraska Technology Banquet on
Tuesday, April 24, 2001. Dr. Nath is the third faculty member from the College of Business
Administration to receive the award.
January 2001
The Rev. Neil Cahill, S.J. died at Mercy Care Center on
January 13th after a long illness. Before retiring in June of 2000, Fr. Cahill had served
as Chaplain of the college and as an economics professor since 1962.
